Setting up email on an iPhone

Setting up an email account on an iPhone

You can configure your iPhone to connect to your email server via POP3 or IMAP.
We recommend IMAP so that you are not downloading email messages to your phone which can consume a lot of disk space over time.
The following instructions will help you configure your email account via IMAP.

1. Go to your iPhone Settings and choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars

2. Choose Add Account and then choose Other

3. Choose Add Mail Account

4. Enter the following information by replacing "username" and "domain" with information from your email account and domain name.

Name: Your Name (This is used when sending emails so recipients know who the email is coming from other than by just email address.)
Address: username@domain.com
Password: the password for your email account
Description: this is used when listing your email accounts in your phone so you can identify the correct account.

5. Choose Next

6. Choose IMAP

7. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter the following information by replacing with information from your email account and domain name.

Host Name: mail.domain.com
User Name: username@domain.com
Password: the password for your email account

8. Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter the following information by replacing with information from your email account and domain name.

Host Name: mail.domain.com
User Name: username@domain.com
Password: the password for your email account

9. Choose Next

10. At this point you should see that the phone is Verifying the Account. This can sometimes take several minutes. If you get a prompt indicating the phone was unable to verify the account and asks if you would like to continue without verifying, choose Continue.

11. Choose Save

12. Additional Tips

- Some people have found that using Port 25 is often blocked, preventing them from sending email from their iPhone. If this is the case, please use the alternative port, 2525 instead.

- If during setup you are asked if you want to continue without SSL, choose Yes. SSL is not needed for this setup.
