Woodman's Food Market

Web Design

Prelude

Woodman’s Food Market was founded in Janesville, WI in 1919. Today, the employee-owned grocery chain has 19 stores in Wisconsin and Illinois. They requested an ADA compliance audit to ensure their website could be used by people with disabilities and the assistive technology they use to navigate the web. Though Foremost Media had never completed an ADA compliance audit before, we were confident we could help.

WAVE Tool Evaluates Accessibility

ADA compliance refers to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) that involve designing a website so that everyone, including people with disabilities, can use it as easily as possible. Design and web development practices might include using sufficient color contrast between the text and background so those with poor vision are able to read. Our development team used WAVE, a web accessibility evaluation tool, to test Woodman’s site for accessibility issues.

Errors Identified

A thorough review of the Woodman’s site was completed and all compliance issues identified by the WAVE plugin were compiled into a formal document. Even though the WAVE tool was new to Foremost, we found it to be very straightforward in identifying errors in each section of their website.

A formal report detailing compliance issues and an estimate covering the work needed was sent to the client, who will make a decision on addressing the issues. They now have the tools to make sure their website is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.

If you are concerned about website accessibility issues, we can provide a compliance audit that will address any concerns. Contact us today for a free quote!
